Fitness Friday Newsletter- Sunday Edition 10/10/21

Fitness Friday Newsletter: Sunday Edition

I attended Austin City Limits Festival this weekend so thank you for your patience in the detour from the regular schedule. Here are the top five findings from this week.

  • Fitness- TrainHeroic: I've been working on Whealth's newest strength program and after researching all of the available training platforms, we've decided to build out our daily programming on the TrainHeroic App. It's built by coaches, for coaches with an intuitive strength and conditioning-focused layout. If you're interested in a sexy user interface that gets results you can join the waitlist for our newest strength program here.

  • Nutrition- Drink of the week: Homemade Iced Americano

  • Recovery- I found the following podcast insightful regarding the history and reality of our current relationship to the 40 hour, 5-day workweek. The author makes a very compelling argument for a 4-day workweek with equivalent pay and better results. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. "The 40-hour workweek isn't working. Reducing it could help with productivity" You can read more about the idea in his book Overtime.

  • Business- Recently, I've really been enjoying listening to the A Whole New Level Podcast. It follows the journey of the company Levels as they build a revolutionary business around helping people obtain metabolic fitness through continual glucose monitoring and immediate nutritional feedback. They covered a great topic this week about mental models that help to make better decisions in life and in business. I resonated with the mental model of 5 factors of performance that influence all businesses including frequency (number of transactions/customer), velocity (number of transactions), volume (amount purchased), value (price), and margin (profit). Example- Amazon: High frequency, quick velocity, high volume, low value, low margin. They can afford small margins and cheap prices due to the economies of scale provided by their high frequency, velocity, and volume. You can hear this section starting at 1:01.

  • Thought for the Weekend

    • What current interest of yours is worth an investment of a few years or more of your time?

I appreciate you, thanks for reading, and until next week,

Take care of yourself,

- Shiloh
